Appreciation
I wish to express my appreciation for the encouragements and comments given by Herman Aaftink, Alan Anderson, Erroll S. Collie, Ervin Seale, and Igor Sikorsky Jr., who have long been students of Park Quimby. Gratitude is due Doctor Collie for his labor In transcribing more than two- hundred thousand words of the unpublished handwritten notes of Doctor Quimby. It is appropriate to acknowledge also the work of Horatio Dresser, the son of two of Doctor Quimby's patients, who edited the first publication of Quimby's notes, in 1921, which is the source of most of the quotations used here. These two compilations have made the present work possible. Appreciation is also due Brent Williams, minister of the Los Altos Church of Reli- gious Science, for his helpful comments, encouragement, and instruction.
Special appreciation is due Doctors Erroll S. Collie and Ervin Seale for the introductory commentaries and for supplying the photographs of Park Quimby. Their determination to keep alive the memory and wisdom of Quimby has made this editor's effort worthwhile.
